Omnomnom delicious cookies! We are all gone mad for cookie's around these parts! Maybe it's March Madness, maybe it's just that we love cookies... who knows. What I do know is they don't last long and are yummy!
I have seen the piping for the "fur" being done with both a grass technique, using a tip like this Wilton one and also with a closed star (I used a Wilton No. 30 closed star). I don't have a large grass tip, only this teeny, tiny sized one and with 2 dozen cookie monsters to frost, I picked the closed star! I went with the squeeze, pull and drag up method and found that it made the frosting look fuzzy and furry. Hopefully, just like Cookie Monster.
Before I attempted to frost the cupcakes however, I cut a little slice out of the cupcake and then just stuffed a cookie in the hole. I piped around the cookie so it helped hold it in place. I also used full cookies and stuck them right into the bun, an extra treat for those who were tempted by Cookie Monster.
For the eyes, I rolled up little marbles of white, store bought fondant and stuck in a chocolate chip to make the pupil! With Cookie Monster having crazy eyes, I just sat them randomly facing whatever way on the top of the bun. Et voila! Cookie Monster cupcakes...
These cupcakes were so easy and so much fun to do. This guy above is my favourite... he looks like the hungry one of the bunch. Stuffing his face with more that one cookie. Kind of like how I felt when, having a few cookies left over, I made a cup of tea and munched away.
Have a great week everyone.

I have one teeny, serious point I want to make.I moderate all comments that come through my blog. They get sent to my email and I pretty much say yay or nay to what gets published here. At no time will I publish anything that is inappropriate or nasty and when you can't be bothered to put your name to your nastiness, I certainly will not publish that either!
I am trying my very best to keep this blog up to date. My time is very limited at the moment. I am nursing my 17 week old, running my home and busy being a wife, mother, sister, daughter, best friend, baker, crafter.
I love reading your comments and I love commenting on other blogs. I love visiting other blogs and reading what you all have been up to. Just because I pop by and do not comment, does not mean I didn't enjoy my visit. I maybe just didn't get a chance to type because my baby woke, or the washer finished or the doorbell rang or my life got in the way!
If your reasons for blogging are purely to gain followers and have a crazy amount of comments on posts, then that's fine for you but it does not give you the right to come to my little corner and be nasty. I try my best and that's all I can offer. I can't give you all my time in the world. But when I'm over in your corner of blogland, I promise to give you my full attention, admiration, love and support!
Please note my dear readers, that this was just one comment, one out of the many lovely, encouraging, happy ones I get everyday on this blog. I love to visit, read and look into your lives. I will continue to do so and when I have the time I will comment with all the gusto in the world about whatever you have posted.
With all the rambling done, my rant is over! I appreciate everyone who pays a visit to this blog, who gives me a moment of their time to read my nonsense and be here. Thank you all so much for being who you are and as always for your kind, encouraging words.

Best thing I've seen today! They look brilliant.

xx
Thanks Stacey! They were super even if I do say so myself :)
DeleteGorgeous cookie monsters Hazel, you are too good at baking they look very hard to make (or it is just me being a total disaster at making desserts)! Hope the mean comments will not spoil your day, this kind of bulling is not on whatsoever some people have a nerve! Enjoy your day and wishing you lots of sunshine, it has been very dark around here lately! /maria x
ReplyDeleteThank you Maria for all your sunshine wishes! It has been grim but hopefully Spring is on it's way! X
DeleteHi Hazel,
ReplyDeleteI can't believe anyone would write anything nasty on your beautiful blog! Just ignore it!!!
I love the cookies - fun AND yummy-looking!!! I especially like the extra-greedy looking one with all the broken cookie bits in his mouth! :-)
Hugs,
Carly

Oh Carly your are so kind! I love the greedy guy too :) Think he reminds me, of me! X

ReplyDeleteSilly meany pants person should go sit on the time out step.
Soon Lou! You'll get some :)
DeleteThey are amazing cakes ... my little man would love those!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you have had a nasty comment. I have had to put moderation back on my comments because I am getting so many weird spammy anonymous comments.
M x
It's annoying right!? I just don't understand why people get so mean! But thank you for your lovely comments :)
DeleteAdorable! My little guy would love them!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations of your new baby! I am glad you are enjoying her vs. entertaining your blog friends. Too often, I see moms stuck on their phones rather than enjoying their children (even I am a bit guilty for being on my laptop right now). Real life is more important and more rewarding!
Awh thanks Stacy, my little guy is too small to enjoy them as of yet but he will one day too! X
DeleteThose cookies look bonkers....the kids will love them! (Adults too, but that might be a secret!)
ReplyDeleteYou are doing well keeping a blog going and such a young baby, I know how difficult I found those first months. Just comment when you can, I find I can't do as much now, I'm becoming very busy, but I do try my best to read as many as I can. Just ignore anything negative, there's some sad, lonely people out there! :) x
Thank you Ada, your kind words are appreciated!
DeleteAnd yes I think adults not-so-secretly loved the cookie monsters too! X
These Cookie Monster cakes are brilliant! My son and I were only looking up ideas for them the other day I'd say if anyonemakes negative comments its probably through jealousy...they must be very sad, lonely people.
ReplyDeleteThank you! X
DeleteI love these cupcakes! They're just adorable - and so crazy looking! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear you've had a nasty comment - there seems to be a lot of that going around blogosphere at the moment. I frequently read posts, am about to comment, and then something happens, so I close the computer and forget to return until 5 days later!
Have a gorgeous day!
Sarah xo
It feels like that Sarah, I have seen too many posts of late about negative commenting! Glad you think the cupcakes look crazy- I feared they might be too tame ;) X
DeleteThose cookies look fab, my littlest granddaughter loves the cookie monster and she would love them too!
ReplyDeleteSorry you are having negative comments.I dont know why people do this, I think if you cant say anything nice why say anything at all? I'm sure most of us realize that we cant all comment on every blog on every post and wouldnt expect it. Ignore them is what I say.X
Thanks Anne xxx
DeleteThose cupcakes look amazing..I want to lick them alllll!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you've had a nasty comment, you don't deserve it! Some people need to get a life! xxx
Thanks Sooz! I don't think licking all of them would have been nice- you must share your cookie monsters!! hehe! ;)
DeleteI think you nailed these cookie monsters Hazel!! Somebody is going to be very happy indeed at their birthday party :) Do what you have to do with your own blog ... it's your special place ... keep it happy ;D Enjoy the rest of your week!! Wendy
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy! You're a star! X
DeleteYour cookie cakes look amazing, you can totally tell how much fun you had making them.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about a horrid negative comment. How rubbish that must have made you feel. Your blog is gorgeous and a treat to visit - I know I always love stopping by. Visiting blogs is time consuming, we can't all comment on every post, that's insanity, and anyone with any sense understands that.
Sending a bloggy hug to you! Gillian x
Oh! a big squeeze back Gillian! Thank you x
DeleteThose cakes are amazing.
ReplyDeleteThought i'd pop over and say hi and have a little nose - Your blog is lovely and so inspirational. Thank you for leaving a comment on my last post.
Ignore any nasty comments. As others have said real life is so much more important.
Thank you for popping by! X
DeleteThose are amazing cookie cakes, so clever. Im sorry to hear you had a nasty comment, some people are so mean. x
ReplyDeleteAnd for what reason Caroline!? I just don't know sometimes... people get back bones online I think. Thank you for stopping by x
DeleteLove these! Such a great idea and they look great :)
ReplyDeleteS x
Funny how the nasty ones never leave their name or contact details isn't it? But then, most bullies are cowards.
Exactly what my husband said to me Sandra! Onwards and upwards I think! :) X
DeleteWhat stunning cakes, and well lit photos!
ReplyDeleteI'm really sorry to hear there has been nastiness, Lord knows I hardly ever get to read blogs, let alone comment or write my own posts! I love what you do here Hazel, even if i dont often get to comment often xx
That's how I feel too! I swing by and read what I can and would always love to comment on everything, but I just don't have the time of late. I do truly appreciate anyone who takes the time to comment here. So thank you xxx
DeleteDear Hazel, only just read this post! First of all : those cookies are FANTASTIC!
ReplyDeleteAnd so are you.... I feel exactly the same about blogging... It's nice to have followers and sweet comments, of course,
but the most important thing is that you like what you are doing yourself. It's just not possible to react to everything you see or read in blogland or anywhere else... You wouldn't have a life anymore, would you?
So when you do leave a comment, it's extra appreciated ! Love from Mirjam.
Those look amazing. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't worry too much about the meanies out there. I have such a limited time online too so I often don't comment, or leave a very quick one. And I am terrible at replying to comments on my own blog, even though I love getting them. It's tough 'maintaining an online presence' when you've got kids - especially a baby! I guess what I am trying to say is we all have real lives - and that's the most important one!
x
Sorry that happened to you chicken, I only got that one comment but it made me feel weird. People really must have very little going on in their own lives if they have the time or inclination to leave a stupid comment. Just don't read our blogs if they bother you!!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, just catching up with you and I LOVE the cookie mouths! Xx
